'Mirror, Mirror'
I originally posted this yesterday on youtube, but I added further changes this morning, such as extending the audio to continue playing when the logo appears on screen. However, when I went to put the updated version of this video, youtube would not process it properly, and therefore I couldn't post it.
Hi Brianna
ReplyDeleteOverall Score: 16/20
Great first effort for a film project! Well done.
- Nice title, just missing the logo in the beginning
- sound over the logo sounds good - gives an eery feel to the start and sets the tone
- be thinking about filming / camerawork - that shot of teacher handing out work to Carol has a lot of negative space at the top, can be better framed
- transition between Kevin in class and him walking down corridor could have been more of a deliberate transition to show passing time and to give it all a moment of impact. You could do this with holding the shot on Kevin's face at the end there to indicate something is wrong here, you could add in a sound effect to tell the audience that something sinister is happening (creating a shift in tone and in suspense levels)
- black and white flashbacks work well interjected with the walking into the bathroom shots
- Walking down the hallway shot is nice
- lighting and shadows in the bathroom work well
- the cross-cutting between shots of Kevin in the bathroom, the flashbacks of the schoolwork and the stalking and pushing of Carol all work really well. Nice touch with the voice being 'echoey' for the flashback.
- I would have chosen music that changed gear here. That initial soundtrack worked well for the beginning but there needed to be a change in pace here. Sound effects and change in whats happening with the sound to match the shock and severity of Kevin murdering Carol and the reveal of Carol with bloody head, on the ground. This could have been more impacting.
- Great ending shot - that extreme close-up is fantastic. really highlights the dark side to that character. You could really have lingered on that end shot for effect!
- Credits music works well, you can just make those bigger / easier to read and see. You don't have to use that template. Maybe try something else for future projects.
