Using drop shadows provides visual cues that allow viewers to better and more easily understand what is occurring. It gives a sense of foreboding and foreshadowing as to what will occur.

CC Vignette Effect
The use of vignette is an idea that really appeals to me and is one I am keen to use. Adding a vignette can be a powerful way to enhance both the mood and the composition of an image.
By adjusting the light and selectively darkening certain areas of the image, I am able to guide the viewer's eye more easily through the image and towards the main subject.
The distribution of light throughout the image will, in cooperation with a strong composition, be what guides the viewer's eye through the image. Our eyes tend to be attracted to the brighter areas of an image and the darker areas help lead the eyes towards the subject.
I intend to add the vignette effect when Kevin is walking in the hallway leading to the bathroom, as it will put the focus on his mental decline, and builds suspense as we see this come into fruition.
The photo above shows how the distribution of lighting can guide what the viewer's pay attention to. It is also creates more of a style for this project.
Drop Shadow
I plan on using the drop shadow effect for the title of the film, 'Mirror, Mirror', as it is a simple but effective way to create shadows and make it stand out in such a way that it adds to the darker, and almost sinister, theme of the film.
It acts as a means of differentiating the text from the background, making it easier to read by giving it more contrast, as well as adding a slight glow to the image.
Drop shadows have a sense of subtlety to them, whereby the effect is effective, but does not come across in such a way that diverts the viewer's attention, for example an inky smog around the edges. Real shadows are never conspicuous, so this is an effective way to add a sense of realism and create a project that doesn't distract the viewer.

Light Sweep
I plan on using this effect for the title, in addition to drop shadow. It is a fairly simple process to come about on premiere pro as you can highlight which parts of the title to put the light sweep over.
This brings more attention to what I want the audience to read, engaging them and making them focus on the tone of the film.
This effect gives a shine/glint to give it a reflective appearance. It also makes the title sequence seem more professional in an artistic and creative way.
