Treatment:

The way the credits have been done is something I intend to use to create a similar effect that builds suspense to the opening sequence. This sequence we've filmed is less focused on building a plot and narrative and more focused on building and maintaining suspense that is recognizable within a thriller film.

The simplicity of the credits adds to the atmosphere and alludes to the sub-genre within the thriller narrative. In addition to this, the music is also simple, and the film really applies the 'less is more' principle. For the foundation portfolio, this will be key as I aim to set an atmosphere that conveys the mysteriousness of the plot yet effectively builds suspense to create an opening that is both engaging and interesting.

By having it fade to black, then fade in with brief shots of the film, the audience gains a perspective on the importance of the focus of the film. For example, the idea for our opening is that the two girls are being stalked. The fade to blacks will both convey a sense of passing of time, while maintaining the building of suspense that comes with the building of the plot.

  1. Score: 15/20

Some good elements of research reflected here but aiming for detail and a more complete picture being painted of the product you intend to create, would help you get a stronger result. Also, an initial team brainstorm was required which is missing. I would have loved to have seen your planning include sound and other aspects that are usually included in the treatment, too.
